Actions Completed by MC2D

Food Waste Reduction

MC2D, in collaboration with the Monaco Town Hall, launched the “Monaco Commits Against Food Waste” operation. A 12-page booklet, created with the help of cartoonist Jean Pierre Dirick, was produced as a guide to good practices. This booklet was printed in 13,000 copies and distributed by mail to all households in Monaco. The initiative also included various items (boxes, bags, stickers) provided to restaurateurs, such as “La Petite Boîte,” and the creation of a website, www.gaspillagealimentaire.mc.

Monaco Commits Against Waste (MEG)

MC2D and the Monaco Town Hall expanded their action plan by creating “Monaco Commits Against Waste” (MEG). The aim is to fight all forms of waste, not just food waste. This commitment includes collections called “Les MEG.”

Monacology

From 2005 to 2019, MC2D participated in Monacology by offering workshops to young students in the Principality.

Exotic Wood

The local initiative “Monaco Commits Against Deforestation” was led by MC2D in collaboration with the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation and the Princely Government. Launched on January 28, 2010, it included several components:

  1. The “Wood Forever” program, initiated by MC2D and the Albert II of Monaco Foundation, to promote the use of sustainably managed wood in the yachting industry.
  2. A program in the Principality, partnered with the Princely Government and the Albert II of Monaco Foundation, encouraging companies to use wood and wood products responsibly, formalized through the Wood Charter.

Blue Tuna Conservation

The blue tuna is an endangered species, prompting MC2D to raise awareness about the risk of extinction for certain species in the Mediterranean. The association called on Monegasque restaurateurs to stop serving blue tuna.

Green Thursdays

In September 2010, the Monaco Town Hall and MC2D collaborated to enhance communication between public institutions and the public on various issues. This collaboration took the form of a series of meetings called GREEN THURSDAYS. Topics covered included daily life issues such as transport, waste, pollution, water, energy, infrastructure projects, and construction, emphasizing an environmentally respectful approach. These conferences included site visits related to the topics discussed, both in the Principality and neighboring communities.

Youth and Sustainable Development Meetings (JDD)

In 2005, MC2D organized the “Youth and Sustainable Development Meetings” in collaboration with the National Education, Youth and Sports Department, involving high school students from the Principality. From 2006, this event was held within the framework of EVER (Exhibition of Ecological Vehicles and Renewable Energies) as their goals align: environmental preservation
